critterExperience a beloved Christmas tradition at the Critter Barn’s 10th Annual Live Nativity.

In the comfort of a heated barn, the story of Jesus Christ’s birth in a manger surrounded by God’s creatures comes to life. The Critter Barn’s cast of sheep, goats and donkeys help create this historical scene. Visitors are treated to carols and the telling of the first Christmas. As with other Critter Barn activities, children can touch, feed and take photos of the animals.

New this year are Farm Celebration Saturdays highlighting “sustainable” farming traditions, with special guests, classes and demonstrations. This unique Christmas experience is the perfect holiday activity for children and grandparents, and everyone in between.

You are invited to our Ladies Night Out this Thursday, November 20 at 7:30 p.m. for dessert and uninterrupted talk time a the Rainbow Grill in Grandville. Even if you did not sign up to attend, please feel free to join us if you can get away!

If you enjoyed Linda Annett’s presentation on family traditions at our November meeting, and would like receive her free email monthly newsletter, you can e-mail her at annett1linda@yahoo.com. You are also invited to visit her website at www.creatingfamilytimes.com.

At our November meeting, one of our MOPS moms, Beth Stone, shared regarding an organization that is near & dear to her heart— Women At Risk International. They are opening a boutique in Rockford that carries handmade jewelry, scarves and other gifts, and it’s all for a great cause—to help disadvantaged women who have been rescued from the sex trafficking trade. Beth will be traveling to Thailand in February for 10 days with Women At Risk International.

Start saving your newspapers—our MOPS group will be benefitting from a fundraising paper drive on Saturday, December 6 in the parking lot behind First Church. All you have to do is gather up your recyclable news & office papers, place them in paper grocery bags and drop them off between 9 a.m. and noon on December 6. It’s simple—the more paper we get, the more money our group will receive!

Our next MOPS meeting is Friday, December 12. We will be enjoying a mentor moment & craft. Also, each table has been assigned a specific Christmas theme to decorate their table with. If you were not at the November meeting, contact your table leader to find out how you can contribute to your table’s decorations.

Starting in January, we will be doing something new with breakfast. In order to involve everyone, have variety, and enjoy new recipes, we are asking that each table take a turn bringing breakfast for the group. The Hospitality Team will notify your table leader before your scheduled date, so your table can plan accordingly.

Reserve January 13 on your new calendar for a MOPS playdate. Time and location to be announced…

When We Meet

MOPS stands for Mother of Preschoolers and is a program designed to nurture mothers with children from infancy to kindergarten.

MOPS meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at First Reformed Church, 3060 Wilson Avenue in Grandville from October-May and women of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join us.

MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy to kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Our MOPS group provides an open, caring and accepting atmosphere for today’s mothers to grow and share their experiences with other women.
