He is there waiting for us to call out to him. When you are losing your patience stopa nd pray or give yourself a time-out to ask God for the strength, patience, and wisdom to be the best mom we can be…

Today we enjoyed a presentation by Amanda Deppe of the Leslie Studio on ways to spruce up our wardrobe & make up. Here are Amanda’s notes from the presentation:

Remember you’ve probably already picked colors that suite you, Look in your home, your garden and your wardrobe chances are you’ve already started your color pallette.

For more ways to hone in on your coloring- look at the colors that make up your eyes, lips, hair and skin. There isn’t just one shade of brown or blue in your eyes for example.

Remember we all have different levels of contrast-
A gal with dark hair, dark eyes and fair skin has what’s called high contrast. This means she can wear colors that have high contrast whether it be in her wardrobe or makeup.
A gal with high contrasting color will love to have her eye’s lined, brows filled in with a dark brown, pink or coral pink blusher and a neutral lip shade. In the summer her contrast might shift to a softer brow color and a softer eye liner shade.
We can use the winter to our advantage if we echo the look of stark bark and white snow.

MAKE-UP
Apply a moisturizer (you might find you use a thicker moisturizer in the winter months then the summer time) either with or without spf in it. Create a balance for your skin to sun protection.

For a three minute makeup application-
1. Apply Concealer, this should be in all of our bags of tricks! Be gentle as you apply, tender skin under the eye.
2. Apply foundation (remember there are different formulas for different levels of coverage) to blend skin tones. Apply your foundation over the concealer to help blend under your eye. If you don’t know how to match your foundation up use the color of your neck or the back of your wrist as a guide.
3. Apply blusher in your neutral tone, give yourself a touch of flush look
4. Mascara
5. Lip gloss

For a five minute makeup application-
In addition to the above, focus some more attention to the eyes
1. Fill in your eye brows. Think of your brows as a frame to your eyes. You’ll be amazed how much your eyes stand out! If you have time, have your brows shaped- plucked, waxed… have a clear and natural shape to your brow
2. Line the top of your eye, I would suggest you try a color other than black. You want to wear the makeup not the other way around.
3. add a neutral eye shadow color to give yourself a polished look.

For Special Occasions-
You can either place more emphasis on your eyes with more than just a neutral shad on the lids, complimented by a neutral lip
or you can find a deeper shade of lip color for you lips and keep the eyes neutral.
If you have time, don’t be afraid to play with these looks.

WARDROBING
Instead of putting on jeans and t-shirt spice up your look with…
-add a blazer, make sure it fits you well.
-make the t-shirt a color that pops or with a pattern. If you use an all over pattern you can hide some of your flaws.
-Use accessories, a scarf, necklace, bracelet, earrings… skies the limit. Mix and match.
-Create some other go to pants, get a brown, kaki, navy, black, kaki green color- they’re mix right in with what you already have.
-When looking at shoes, there are tons of flats out there! You’d be surprised how a leopard print or metallic color can be a neutral or add just that pop your looking for in an outfit!

Think of your closet as a place where tops and bottoms can be mixed and matched, play around with your items.

If you notice there are some things you are missing- those are the things you should look for on your next shopping trip!

Don’t forget clothes can be altered.

Shapewear might be something you have on hand for that special dress, or pants. No one has to know you’re wearing it!

Come and visit us at The Leslie Studio, we’re at 3535 Lake Eastbrook Blvd. 616.942.9322 Give yourself an hour to have a complimentary makeup application and learn more about your personal colors. Don’t forget to mention you’re from this MOPS group for your discount. We’re also on line
www.thelesliestudio.com

If you want some help on your wardrobe, give me a call. I’ll gladly walk thru your closet with you, even go shopping with you. 616.669.5607

Remember, learning about your colors and what suites you can make your day to day easier and simpler. Take a deep breath and learn.
